Guy Béart is mainly known from his role as television host and composer of several hits. However, he was a succesful singer himself, winning nothing less than the Grand Prix de l'Académie du Disque français in 1958 with this album.
While studying to be an engineer, Guy enrolled at the Paris's École nationale de musique at the same time. Writing songs and performing in Paris in the cabaret, he was able to record his own album in 1958 which is the album we have here. It has an insert with quotes from the newspapers about winning this price where he is described as a 'grand poète de chansons française' and a' troubadour à la poésie'. It is clear that his lyrics are highly regarded and the French were proud with such an ambassador of the chansons. And right they are, as this album (Disques Temporel, 1965) has a true French tune to it, with undisputed, honest songs from everyday life.
