Travelling to different cultures seems so long ago these days. Irrespective of your musical taste, these Greek sounds bring you to Athens and the Peloponnesos.
On the Akropolis there is a temple called Erechteion with a small porch carried by six sculpted females figures. They are called Karyatides and are beautiful. I still remember visiting Athens over 10 years ago and seeing these figurines. Why is this relevant? well the sleeve of the record we listen to today has this very same temple with the Karyatides on the front. However, unlike in my memory, there are small supporting pillars in between the female statues. Like the women cannot hold the roof any more, as if Greece needs support.
Well the music on this record could do with some support as well. It is traditional and clean, but I miss a more folklore sound to really get these Greek Moods out (Palette, 1966). But maybe it can grow on me... Or it needs some 'renovations', just like the Akropolis has seen since 1966.
